Meet the Founders
Hi, we're Anais and Jean-Luc, the husband and wife behind Alara.
We fell in love with Japanese skincare during our honeymoon in Japan and couldn't believe how difficult it was to buy authentic products back home without paying high shipping costs or waiting weeks for delivery.
After spending over a year building relationships with trusted suppliers, we launched Alara in 2026 with one simple mission: to make Japan's most-loved skincare and haircare easily accessible in the UK with next-day delivery.
Every order is packed with care, and we're so excited to help more people discover the products we fell in love with.

At Alara Cosmetics, we believe glowing skin shouldn't be complicated, or out of reach. Japanese skincare is known for being high-quality and effective, but too often feels unreachable unless you are shopping abroad or willing to pay a premium. We are here to change that!
Our love for J-beauty began after visiting Japan and experiencing first-hand how effective, gentle and thoughtful their skincare rituals are. We wanted to bring that same quality and accessibility back to the UK - to make Japanese skincare something everyone can enjoy, not just dream about. For us, it's more than skincare, it's about sharing a piece of Japanese culture and helping you feel confident in your own skin.
